After completing studies in ceramics and an Industrial Design degree from ECUAD in 2001, Grace began to work as a visual stylist for boutiques, hotel chains and exhibitions across Canada. Soon thereafter, she became an art director for a local home decor distributor. While traveling around the world for inspiration, she created lifestyle imagery and designed tableware and housewares for national and international retailers After a long stint in the corporate realm, a life changing trip to Paris inspired Grace to return to her love of working with her hands. She fell in love with working in clay again and soon began to design her own tableware and home collections. Since 2007, Grace has built her body of work and brand, eikcam ceramics through retail shows across Canada and the US. She has also designed wares for local Vancouver restaurants, boutiques, galleries and interior designers across Canada while working from her studio in East Vancouver. In 2013, she formed Object+Handmade, a finely curated artisan market showcasing Canadian and American artists. OH Studio functions as her working ceramics studio and houses many events like long table dinners and workshops in all mediums.
eikcam ceramics embodies work that is both functional and also decorative both of which incorporate elements of naturalness and whimsy. Her approach to design is layer by layer, simple and often uncomplicated.
