Neno Catania is a resident of Burnaby BC, resides in the Still Creek area. Working the medium of wood has been a part of his everyday life since the early 1980’s. At first, he was employed as a hardwood floor tradesman. Here, he developed his wood working skills as an apprentice, worked his way up to journeyman. It was in 1994, when he purchased his first lathe wanting to learn the craft of wood turning. In the beginning he was self-taught, reading magazines, books and viewing how- to videos from the public library. Neno joined the Greater Vancouver Woodturners Guild at their first club meet in 1999, was a member for 10 years. His wood turning skills accelerated through hands on demos, watching techniques during the course of invited demonstrators. He was an instructor at The Joint Woodwork School in Vancouver teaching wood turning courses from beginner to advance class.
