Christiane Fortier was born 1948 in Montreal, Quebec, completed a BA at Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y. and shortly thereafter moved to Vancouver B.C. While employed by the Ministry of Human Resources as a Child Care Counsellor/ Teacher, she studied for two years with Vancouver potter Gabrielle Alfred whose teacher was Bauhaus-trained Marguerite Wildenhain.
