After careful study with her father, Artist Melvyn Malkin, Anna began creating the MalkinRaku Sheep in 2008. As part of her move from Toronto to Victoria, BC, the raku studio was established on one of the northern Gulf Islands. Photos and a short video of the raku firing process and of the studio are viewable at: www.malkinraku.com. Originally from Saskatoon, Anna migrated to Toronto and The Ontario College of Art. After a first year in ceramics, she gravitated toward audio and video work. She has worked in the film industry for a number of years in Toronto in both post production sound and video editing and has produced a number of her own short film and video works over that time. Currently, she works as a video editor, and project co-ordinator. Her return to ceramics is a welcome change from her usually computer centric work. Getting her hands dirty again is very satisfying.
