Junichi Tanaka was born in Japan in 1952. After working with Beth Lo at the University of Montana from 1989 to 1993 and exploring his lyricism as Artist in Residence at the Contemporary Craft Gallery in Portland, Oregon from 1996 to 1997, Junichi moved to Whonnock, B.C. in 1998 where he established a working ceramics studio.
Junichi started his wholesale business in 1999 and began selling his work at wholesale trade shows in Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. His simple and elegant stoneware pieces have been widely acclaimed and collected by many people throughout Canada.
In 2003, Junichi became a Canadian citizen.
