ABOUT

I was lucky enough to find ceramics my first semester of high school, in Glendale, AZ. Captivated by the tactile nature of the medium as well as the relentless focus required through the creation process, I took classes every semester through graduation. During my grade 12 year I also worked under Joseph Woodford, a large scale raku artist, based out of Chandler, AZ. Under Joe’s tutelage my skills not only improved but also my eye for detail and aesthetic. I received a BFA in Ceramics and a BSBA in Management from Northern Arizona University under the instruction of Paula Rice, Jason Hess, and Steven Schaeffer. It was at this time that my love for the variability of atmospheric firings was kindled. The subtle transitions of color and variety in surface was unlike anything I’d seen in the world or ceramics. Following that I moved to Salmon Arm, BC where I managed and taught at a small community pottery studio for several years. It was during this time that I developed my current style and line of work, met and married the love of my life, and in 2024 celebrated the birth of our first child.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Inspired by nature and informed by each piece's use I am always seeking to improve my work. From the fit of a handle to the curve of the pots shoulder no detail is too small. My goal is that each piece is equally at home on display and in the hand.
