ABOUT
Dana’s curiosity in science pushed her towards a career in nursing, but compelled by a need to create with her hands, she was pulled towards craft and working with natural dyes. Natural dyes captivated Dana with their colour and the satisfaction she gets from working with this medium holds her attention; it is the thread that connects everything she makes together. Patterned Goods Co. is the convergence of her love of science, craft and living artfully.
ARTIST STATEMENT
To work with the fairly ambiguous results natural dyes can produce and create structure and beauty in a finished piece, represents a correspondence between the chaos and disorder of life and my ongoing desire for calmness. I feel that calmness alongside joy, satisfaction and order in every aspect of my process. I find it in the lines and geometric shapes I am drawn to, the loud colours and the quieter colours, the aesthetic appeal of the pieces I create and in their usability.
