The pattern for this cowl has been in my head for several years, but I hadn't found the right wool until now. It had to be luxuriously soft and weighty, to be worthy of all the work that goes into this piece. I wanted to evoke the image of west coast shores; stony beaches and ocean waves.
Hand knit with a glorious bulky merino/alpaca wool from Bolivia, the softly undulating waves of the cable-like pattern run up against the pebbly shore of seed stitch, and SHORELINE is born. The cowl can be worn with the "stone" edge on top or bottom, giving it a distinctly different appearance. It is tall enough to pull over your head during the coldest days.
