Starfish Glassworks was established by glass blowers Gary Bolt, Lisa Samphire, and Morna Tudor.
Starfish Glassworks is a studio and gallery featuring the work of its three principle glass blowers and over 40 artists from across Canada. Starfish Glassworks endeavors to educate the public about glass art through on-site demonstrations, educational exhibits, and workshops.
Circle Craft will host GO BIG, GO BLUE, an exhibit of recent works by Bolt, Samphire, and Tudor.
Gary Bolt is a 1988 graduate of the Sheridan College of Crafts and Design. Since moving to the West Coast in 1989, he has studied several times at the Pilchuck Glass School and has received numerous awards and scholarships. As well as being a founder of Starfish Glassworks, Gary is a founding member of V6, a collective of artists working in glass that has become internationally recognized for the quality and innovation of their work.
Lisa Samphire began blowing glass in 1985. She graduated with honours form the University of Victoria, receiving her BFA. Lisa has also attended the renowned Pilchuck Glass School, and is a founding member of both Starfish Glassworks and V6.
Morna Tudor began her studies in glass in 1983 at Sheridan College of Crafts and Design. She graduated from Sheridan with honours and immediately began her professional career as a glass artist, also attending the Pilchuck Glass School. Morna is the recipient of numerous grants and awards and like her co-founders in Starfish glassworks, she is a founding member of V6.
