FUNCTION l FUSION

An exhibition of furniture design

by

PETER CHEN and GREG METZ

Opening Thursday, February 3, 2005    6 – 8 pm

Peter Chen
My current furniture design is my interpretation of Modern.  Study of architecture and interior design influenced my design style, in which I strive for honesty in structure and intent. Nothing is decoration, and everything has function.

Bio
At age twelve, I was captivated by woodworking. Even though my first project failed, it was my mistake and readied me for future mistakes. Study of architecture opened up the larger environment. But I was spurred by the immediacy of working with wood and making furniture. In 2003, I established Adhesion Designs. I believe design purity and harmony come from the deliberate articulation of function, form, porportion and structure.

Greg Metz
I feel that my furniture compliments its space when the design evolves together with its surrounding architectural elements. My objective is to design furniture and furnishings which enhance the space they occupy, distinguishing their environment while displaying harmony and beauty.  I do this by working with the aesthetics of each material, whether plywood, metals, veneers or woods.

Bio
In 1995, Greg Metz graduated from the Sheridan Institute of Technology in Ontario with a diploma in Furniture Design and Construction. He established metzdesign in 2000.
