Forms and Ideas
Serge Mozhnevsky and Lawrence E. Pierce

Serge Mozhnevsky
I graduated from professional college as a wood carver twenty years ago. Since then, I have been constantly adding new styles, shapes and moods to my work because I have a strong need for variety. My work explores feelings and experiences that I consider inherent in a human being.
Studying philosophy helped me understand that the act of creating is a way of learning, of peering into, of thinking out loud about the world at large and us within it. This is what art is about for me.
For some of my works I use a continuous line to give them my emotions, energy, and spirit. I try to combine simplicity of design with grace and harmony of the human figure in differnect states. I like unique pieces and I am open to suggestions for custom orders. I take pride and great pleasure in what I make, and in return, I experience inner warmth from knowing that people are using and enjoying my works.
Working with wood and painting are cherished parts of my life.
Lawrence Pierce
has been a furniture maker for about 3 years, and strives with every piece to include some recycled materials. Many of his pieces cross the border between furniture and art, in the sense that, for example his "Altars" show brought form to a number of concepts through his pieces.
Lawrence Pierce is a litigation lawyer in Vancouver.
