Down by the Water
Doug Lane

Doug Lane graduated from the University of Alberta in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in industrial design. From the beginning, his goal has been to continuously interpret and evolve the principles of good design to enhance the way we live and work in our environments.
His experiences, form industrial design to restoring antiques, to selling classic modern furniture, have distilled his vision to simple design, clean lines, and honest materials. His pieces are distinctive, timeless and work in harmony with our lives.
Since forming DLF in 1995, Doug has designed his own line as well as numerous installations and commercial environments. He shows each November from his studio at 1000 Parker Street, and is a member of Group Lava.
Opus
Peter Pierobon

This body of work continues my exploration of language based text as a decorative device for furniture. I know this sounds unusual, but I am interested in giving meaning to the surfaces of my work and while I have used arcane languages including Nordic Runes, Gregg shorthand and even hobo scratchings in the past, this show incorporates musical notations lifted from a handwritten score of Mozart. The lyrical nature of his hand embodies the very essence of what music is, and I have decorated a variety of objects, carving the wood and hoping to inspire the user in new ways.
