Laura Murdoch grew up in the Yukon, and is an award-winning Vancouver-based glass artist who recently returned from studying and apprenticing in glass in the US for 15 years, mainly at the world-renowned Pilchuck Glass School. She was fortunate to spend many winters apprenticing with several members of the William Morris team, and also crafting her own work there. This past fall, she was invited to attend a kilnforming residency at Pilchuck. This fall, she was also featured in the pre-auction Juror's Choice Auction Awards exhibit in Pioneer Square in Seattle. She has been a teaching assistant at Pilchuck, Pratt Fine Arts School and Terminal City Glass, where she currently make her work. She has won numerous awards including a US competition to design a large-scale set of chandeliers for the University of Delaware. Her intricate and colourful designs grace many private collections and publications in the US and Canada. She recently added an apprenticeship in Building Design and Architectural CAD to her arsenal of skills and is excited to see how this proliferates her work into the area of public art installations.
